10 Ways to Create More Space 🌀 (and Play 🎉) in Your Life
Feeling too busy to enjoy life? Here’s how to free up your time and embrace playfulness.
10 Ways to Create More Space 🌀 (and Play 🎉) in Your Life
Something I often hear from folks when I propose playful activities is that they have too much going on "to have fun."
Maybe you feel that way too.
But here’s the thing: walking along the playful path is all about never having “too much going on.” 🎈
Wait—how? Freeing up more time sounds like a paradox, right?
Isn’t it frustrating when work is rolling along, money’s flowing in, but you have no time? ⏳
Our brains have been hacked—it’s kind of terrible. The goal of these tips (and everything along The Playful Path) is to put you back in the creative driver’s seat of your life. 🚗✨
In a way, the playful path leads us back to a different relationship with time. We go from Scarcity to Abundance. Check out my "TIME MAP" below! 🗺️
Before I share the list, here’s a heads-up: on the 19th, I’m hosting my FREE workshop—Breaking All Your Rules! Come along! 🎉
Here are 10 ways—you can break the cycle at any point:
Make space in your physical habitat 🏠
When you’re overwhelmed, tidying up can feel impossible, but it’s transformative. Start with a small area—your desk, your car, even just a drawer. Throw on a great playlist (or an old episode of The Playful Life Podcast!) and tackle that little corner. 🎵Audit your activities 📋
Don’t cancel plans with friends or things you love. Instead, list everything you think you have to do. Ask yourself: Do you really have to do this? Can you get help or involve someone else?Drop and delegate 🧹➡️
Not everything needs to be done by you. Drop one thing or delegate it. Start small and see the difference it makes.Identify time-wasters ⏱️💬
Take an honest look at where you’re wasting time, even if it’s just “zoning out” after a draining day. Awareness is the first step to making meaningful change.Don’t check your phone first thing 📵
Move your body, meditate, journal, or do something fun before touching your phone. This small change can transform your entire day.Shift your identity from “catcher” to “thrower” 🎭
Be intentional about what you take on. Don’t just catch whatever life throws at you. Inspired by Seth Godin’s juggling analogy, this is about leading with purpose and intention. 🎪Start small to create momentum ⚡
When we’re excited, time magically appears. Often, “I don’t have time” means we’re unsure where to start. Dedicate just five minutes to weights, stretching, qi gong, juggling, writing—anything that sparks curiosity and creativity.Face your fear of “not enough time” 🕰️👀
Sometimes, saying we’re too busy masks deeper resistance. Be honest: Do you actually want to do this? Confront avoidance by doing something productive or playful.Batch similar tasks together 📦
Combine similar tasks into one focused session. It’s simpler and more efficient than juggling multiple things throughout the day.Rotate tasks 🔄
Not every task needs daily attention. Rotate less urgent tasks, scheduling them on alternate days or even once a week to free up mental and physical space.
✨ Ponder this: What makes you feel like your time is well spent? And then—do more of that! ✨
The feeling of time slipping by is one of the signs that we are play deprived!
I love to challenge people to find just one hour for themselves. It becomes a magnetic center to realign your whole life, even if you’re super busy. Interested?
In January, I’m pondering launching a four-step coaching process to regain mastery over your time. Want to be one of the first to test it out?

Take a moment to playfully explore this Time Map 🕰️✨.
Notice how the journey shifts from the heavy feeling of Time Scarcity—marked by exhaustion 😩, overwhelm 😰, and a never-ending list of “shoulds” 📋—to the liberating flow of Time Abundance, where clarity 💡, joy 😄, and playfulness 🤸♀️ take the wheel.
The car 🚗, a playful nod to Back to the Future, represents your power to transform your relationship with time.
Crossing the bridge of Empowering Vision 🌉, we shift from being stuck in the grind of what we think we have to do, to living intentionally, with purpose and spark ✨.
Ask yourself: Where are you on this map? Are you caught in the orbit of urgency and “musts” ⏰, or are you steering toward spaciousness, delight, and what truly matters? 🌟
This map isn’t about making a quantum leap overnight—it’s about tiny shifts. What’s one playful action 🎲 or mindset tweak 🧠 that can move you even a step closer to Time Abundance?
This map, which I created three years ago, continues to resonate with me and the journey along The Playful Path 🗺️✨.
It illustrates how shifting our perspective can transform our relationship with time ⏳—from a state of scarcity, overwhelm, and "shoulds" to a place of abundance, joy, and empowering intention 🌱💫.
I'd love to hear from you! 💬 Does any part of the map speak to your experience? Are there areas where you feel stuck or inspired? 🤔🔄 Comment below and let's explore how we can shift gears together! 🚀
Stay curious and playful,
Anthony
